Very often, in a pile of unnecessary rubbish, we find old, broken chandeliers that lie for many years and do not serve their owners. But this can be fixed. Chandelier, it would seem, at first glance, can only perform its main function, to illuminate the room, but it is not, and you will see for yourself. The second life of an old chandelier.

Renovation of an old chandelier

Take a critical look at the chandelier first. Perhaps it can still be revived, give it a second life. There are many examples of creating a "zest" of the interior from an old unnecessary chandelier.

Support for flowers

In your home, you can make a pretty stand out of a carob chandelier that will decorate your yard. Turn the horns of the chandelier upside down and you can plant flowers there. It will be very beautiful to hang such an impromptu flower bed by planting ampelous (hanging) plants.

Vase from an old lampshade

You can make a vase for flowers or a pot for plants from the plafonds of the chandelier. If the ceiling has lost its former bright appearance, then this can be completely corrected. Turn on your imagination and transform the ceiling. You can even give such a vase to someone if you put all your soul and strength into ennobling it.

Chandelier Bird Feeder

One at least good decision for a house or a summer residence there will be a creation of a bird feeder from a chandelier. The re-creation technology is the same as with the flower bed. The main thing in the future is not to forget to put food on the birds.

Bookcase or vase

If you come across a wide and plate-like ceiling, then you can use it as a vase for fruits or vegetables, or make a shelf for sweets. It is enough to find supports for such a vase and it can be used in everyday life.

Street light

An interesting solution is to create from an old chandelier and lamps on solar panels Street light. During the day, energy will accumulate, and in the evening a beautiful lantern will illuminate the gatherings of a friendly company.

An old glass vase will perfectly fit into a new interior if a pattern is applied to its surface with special paints for glass.

We decided to renovate a glass vase we once bought from a newly opened IKEA store. Then she attracted with an unusual shape, and the price did not scare her away. But over time, the simplicity of the shape and decoration of the vase got bored. So we wanted to experiment with it - to create an attractive accessory for our prettier interior.

We also offer to see how to do it yourself,.

Stained glass paints were needed for the work. We used Gamma paints, which are suitable for painting transparent glass and have no smell, which allows them to become indispensable assistants for emerging artists. These paints do not fade in the sun and do not fade over time. The packaging is neat and convenient - thanks to the applicator nozzle, the paint is easily applied to the surface. And if the painted product is “baked” in the oven at +160°C for 30 minutes (according to the instructions), the paints will acquire additional strength - and the product can be washed by hand in warm water.

We came up with the drawing ourselves - the surface of the vase was supposed to be decorated with multi-colored rhombuses. To outline them, the surface was outlined with lines in two directions at about 3 cm intervals. Then the resulting cells were filled with different colors. To give a final accent, a drop of a silver outline was dropped into the middle of each rhombus. They look like small pearl beads - very impressive!

1 . Before proceeding to painting the glass surface, degrease it with a swab soaked in alcohol. We tried not to touch the glass with our fingers during the work. After degreasing, the glass was rubbed dry.
2 . Diagonal lines were applied to the surface of the vase, using the contour of the silver color “Gamma” for this. To simplify the work, especially if there is no drawing skill, it was possible to glue a pre-prepared drawing on the back of the glass, but we did without it.
3 . Next, strips were applied with a contour, perpendicular to the first, and rhombuses turned out on the surface of the vase. Let the outline dry.

4 . stained glass paint"Gamma" of orange color was carefully poured (drop by drop) into the selected cells.
5-6 . Other cells were filled with lilac and turquoise colors - they made sure that the paint did not overflow through the contour. Having painted entirely one side, they waited for the paint to dry completely and only after that they proceeded to painting the next side.

7 . Some cells were painted over with matte white paint.
8-9 . Without waiting for the final drying, a drop of paint of a contrasting color was dripped into the center of each rhombus. To further complicate the drawing, some droplets were stretched with a needle, giving the appearance of a curl, or a small one was placed on top of a large drop.

Materials needed to transform an old vase:
1. Old vase, preferably transparent - 1 pc.
2. Paint in an aerosol can green - 1 pc.
3. Scotch paper medium width - 1 pc.
4. Various ribbons, rhinestones, sequins, beads.
5. Hot glue gun.
6. Acrylic paint - gold and silver color.
7. The brush is narrow.

Stages of transforming an old vase:
1. Absolutely any vase (whether old or new) is suitable for this master class, which must first be cleaned of the old decor, washed well and dried with a towel. So, let's prepare all the necessary materials.

2. At the next stage, we need paper tape, with which we need to paste over our vase in random order.

You can stick this tape around the vase, you can lengthwise, as well as in the form of a spiral - in general, as you like. I glued paper tape in the form of rectangles with different lengths.
3. At this stage, we need spray paint in a can of any color you like. I chose metallic green. Painting is best done on the street, after placing it under a vase plastic bag(or something else that is not needed) in order not to stain anything. You need to paint at least 2 layers. You should shake the can well, and then start spraying paint at a distance of about 20-30 cm, gently scrolling the vase. Do not bring the can too close to the vase, as smudges may form on it. Leave the vase for the paint to dry for about 15 minutes. Then repeat everything again. If the color is not bright enough, you can cover the vase with 3 and 4 layers.

After painting, the vase should dry well (about 1 hour).
4. When the paint on the vase dries, very slowly and carefully remove the paper tape.

If you hurry, then along with the tape you can remove the paint!
5. After removing the paper tape, rectangles will appear on the vase, which have uneven edges. These edges need to be decorated. This can be done with any materials you have - ribbons, sequins, beads, rhinestones, etc. In this case, I used a plastic thread made of rhinestones.

6. In order to carefully close the uneven edges of the rectangles, it is necessary to cut off the required amount from the thread with rhinestones and glue it to the vase using a heat gun.

Do this procedure with all the rectangles on the vase.

Use the heat gun carefully so that the glue does not get on the painted areas of the vase, as this can damage the paint.
7. Using gold-colored acrylic paint and a brush, apply curlicue strokes in any form to the vase.

DIY vase decoration

I called this topic: "When there is no Internet at home."
Somehow in the evenings the Internet did not work for us. And now we are already so connected with him that “do not spill water!” But they say: “there is no blessing without good”, and so I - immediately remembered that my favorite pots were waiting, they would not wait in the wings. The thing is, I really like antiques. And where I go, I always ask about pots, spinning wheels, etc. I have an old mortar, and a pestle, and an old spinning wheel, and much more. Once I was very lucky: an old woman in the village wanted to throw out clay pots, and here I am! And she, as much as she had, gave me all the pots for free! Some time ago I gave some exhibits to the local history museum, the clay pot also settled there. But a few pieces were patiently waiting in the wings.

And in my free evenings I washed them - scraped them off, dried them and let's create. Here's what they looked like at first.
Then I covered them with white acrylic paint for three layers. Each layer needs to be covered in different directions to cover possible flaws.

The next step is painting.

The technique was specially chosen primitive so that the children could repeat it.

For painting also took acrylic paints pearlescent and fluorescent.

Here's what happens in the end.

And a new life is born in the old pot.

What I want to say in conclusion. This job is so exciting, I don't want to quit! Each pot is special. When I finish one, I'm already looking at another.
